chris•tor•i•a (n.)
Pronunciation: kris-TOR-ee-uh
Ok, so you won't find Christoria in the dictionary. It wasn't exactly a word in the English lexicon, but we've now made it one!
The word is a portmanteau, or blend word, formed from Christ + theoria.
Christ comes from the Greek word meaning "Messiah" or "Anointed One," a Jewish prophetic and eschatological concept referring to a political-religious figure selected by God to restore Israel and rule the world. The central confession of Christian faith – from the birth of the Church until now – is that Yeshua of Nazareth is "Lord" and "Christ" (Matthew 16:16; Acts 2:36; Philippians 2:9-11). Jesus is His name. Christ is His seat.
Theoria is a Greek word meaning "contemplation." In Eastern theology, theoria specifically refers to the "vision of God," whereby one's inner being beholds the Lord and one's whole being encounters Him. For Eastern Christians, one cannot be a real theologian nor can one truly become like their Father in heaven until they have experienced theoria.
